Dr M predicts that Scomi, the company owned by the son of the Prime Minister, will grow to be one of the biggest corporations in the history of this country in the shortest time.
"Scomi will be a giant. And yet not too long ago no one had heard of Scomi," he told a KMU dialogue in Putrajaya the other day. He had been asked about the billion-ringgit worth of projects that Scomi has allegedly amassed since Abdullah became PM late 2003 and if it was true that Kamaluddin Abdullah was eyeing to buy KTM Berhad.
The former PM is calling for a press conference at Putrajaya this afternoon.
In the meantime the PM would have gone through the report submitted by Scomi about just how little [or, rather, how much] of its earnings is derived locally.
After that we'll know who'll be sorry.
Bru, Scomi becoming an instant success? No problem. Scomi receiving domestic contracts? No Problem. PM not telling the truth about Scomi? Big, big problem! We don't lie on TV about this kind of thing. Mohon maaf is certainly NOT the answer.

not too long ago, the americans were investigating scomi for the sale of these parts to the middle east.
kamaluddin got away but his partner is in jail.

The president of precision instrument maker Mitutoyo Corp. was arrested in the alleged export to Malaysia of equipment that can be used in making nuclear weapons, officials said Friday.....
....The equipment was shipped to Libya via Dubai by Scomi Precision Engineering Bhd., a Malaysian manufacturer linked to an international nuclear trafficking network, Kyodo reported.
The company, also known as SCOPE, imported six units from Mitutoyo in early 2002, Kyodo said.
The company was linked to a proliferation network led by Pakistan's top nuclear scientist, Abdul Qadeer Khan, when some 25,000 SCOPE-produced centrifuge parts for enriching uranium were seized in October 2003 en route to Libya.
Malaysian police cleared SCOPE of allegations that it knew the parts were bound for Libya, or intended for nuclear use. The company said it thought they were destined for the oil and gas industry in Dubai.
PM should also apologise to all the media which gave his TV3 interbview a big thumbs up. I remember the biggest English daily pronouncing the interview as one that explained everything. Yeah, like everything wrong and erroneous. Just goes to show that mainstream is like a big echo chamber with our very own "Datuk K" (doktor putar) conducting the orchestra.
